THE DC DANCE FACTORY SUMMER INTENSIVE, “THE EXPERIENCE,” IS AN INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY FOR DANCERS TO GROW, CHALLENGE THEMSELVES, AND TRAIN AT A HIGH LEVEL IN A SUPPORTIVE AND INSPIRING ENVIRONMENT. DANCERS WILL TAKE CLASS IN MULTIPLE GENRES OF DANCE FROM DC DANCE FACTORY’S EXCEPTIONAL FACULTY ALONG WITH SPECIAL GUEST TEACHERS, BRINGING A WIDE RANGE OF KNOWLEDGE, ENERGY, AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE INTO THE STUDIO.

THROUGHOUT THE INTENSIVE, DANCERS WILL TRAIN IN A VARIETY OF STYLES INCLUDING BALLET, STRETCH, JUMPS & TURNS, HIP HOP, JAZZ, LYRICAL, CONTEMPORARY, MUSICAL THEATRE, TUMBLING, PILATES, AND MORE. EACH DAY IS DESIGNED TO HELP DANCERS IMPROVE THEIR TECHNIQUE, EXPAND THEIR VERSATILITY, AND GAIN CONFIDENCE AS PERFORMERS.

THE EXPERIENCE IS ALSO A SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR DANCERS FROM ANY STUDIO TO COME TOGETHER, TRAIN HARD, SHARE THEIR PASSION FOR DANCE, AND BE INSPIRED BY THE COMMUNITY AROUND THEM.

CLASS SCHEDULES WILL VARY BASED ON AGE AND LEVEL, AND A DETAILED SCHEDULE WILL BE PROVIDED THE WEEK PRIOR TO THE INTENSIVE.

COMPANY AUDITIONS

If you are interested in being a part of one of the DC Dance Factory Competition Teams, auditions are held during our Summer Intensive! Our competition dancers range in age from 4 to 19, and we are proud to also offer a thriving All Boys Company — currently our largest group!

Our company dancers typically attend an average of four regional competitions and one to two national events each year, with additional optional convention and competition training opportunities.

AUDITION INFORMATION

All dancers wanting to audition for our 2026-2027 competition team please make sure you have met the following requirements:

Step 1: Attend the Summer Intensive

  • All dancers auditioning for a team must be enrolled in our Summer Intensive.

  • During the intensive, dancers will learn combos that will be used during auditions.

  • Dancers will be assigned a number to wear during their audition.

  • Tryout forms must be filled out by June 1ST and must include a headshot upload.

Step 2: Audition Day – June 23rd

  • Dancers will return on June 23rd for a dedicated audition session with only the dancers trying out and the judges.

  • During the audition, dancers will be evaluated on:

    • Flexibility

    • Technique

    • Jazz/Contemporary combo (taught during the Intensive)

    • Hip Hop combo (taught during the Intensive)

    • Any special skills or improv they wish to showcase

Virtual Audition Option

If a dancer cannot attend the Summer Intensive, they must register for the Video Option (similar to last year).

  • Dancers will be given materials to learn at home.

  • If they are able to attend the June 23rd audition, they can still audition live.

  • If they cannot attend on June 23rd, they will receive instructions on what to video and submit for their audition.

Important Deadlines & Information

  • Tryout form deadline: June 1st

  • Audition date: June 23rd

    • After Nationals, we will first email dancers who are not selected and then send congratulations emails to dancers who are chosen.

Please audition only if you intend to accept your position on the team if selected. Choosing teams is a thoughtful and careful process, and it's very difficult when spots are declined after being awarded.
If your dancer decides to withdraw from the audition process before results are announced, please notify us as soon as possible.
